Boys Varsity Wrestling · Wrestling dominates league competition

Richard Razo stepped into a good situation this year. The wrestling team was coming off an a great year where they won league and advanced as a team to the CIF quarterfinals. Coach Razo knew the team was senior heavy and expected to have a great year. What they did though, even with the high expectations, was really special.

After competing well and winning several preseason tournaments, the Mighty Arabs dominated the league competition. They went 5-0 in the regular season by a combined score of 298-15. Please go back and read that sentence again. That is not a typo.

The League Finals were also controlled by our boys as Brayan Quinonez, Christian Arviszu, Milton Serrano, Ian Vasquez, Christian Brenes, and Emmanuel Huesca were all champions in their weight class. Another 6 boys were runners up and another was third place. 13 of the boys qualified for CIF individuals which will be at Beaumont HS on 2/16 and 2/17.

The team has their sites set on winning a CIF team championship but fell short after losing to the number 1 team in the division in the Semifinals by just a few points. They certainly should be proud of their work so far and still have much to accomplish ahead of them. Check back in here at to get updates on CIF and State Individuals.
