Junior Jacob Calderon took the field last Friday in a football game against a perenial football power and did it in a position that he had never played at the varsity level. The fact that he was doing this as the starting quarterback for the CVHS Mighty Arabs against the La Quinta Blackhawks might have made some wearing green and gold nervous but that obviously wasn’t the case for Jacob. He stepped in for injured Donny Fitzgerald and he threw for 5 touchdowns and 260 yards in a big win over LQHS.
Jacob has been honored by multiple media sources since the game ended. He was named the KMIR Player of the Week and was featured on their broadcast and was also named the Desert Sun’s Friday Night Hero (with a little help from the CVHS community).
Congratulations Jacob. Thanks for giving us such a great story!
